Street cleaning blitz
Additional cleaning services to retail precincts and public areas are being provided by the State Government under the Working for Victoria initiative to ensure communities feel more comfortable returning to community spaces.
From 18 May 2020, 50 Citywide contractors will clean public infrastructure, retail centres and shopping strips, cleaning and disinfecting high traffic areas, hard surfaces, traffic light buttons, bin enclosures, hand rails, street benches, bicycle stands, bins and bus stops. The cleaning activity will take place over a 4 week period, 7 days a week between the hours of 7am and 6pm. Crews will visit locations twice daily using professional grade disinfectant which are proven to provide superior action against a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, viruses and algae. These products are EPA approved, do not contain bleach and are eco-friendly.
This is in addition to cleaning services that the City of Manningham currently provides to public toilets, within activity centres, parks and reserves.
Restrictions eased
From Monday 1 June, cafes, restaurants and the dining areas of pubs and clubs will be able to welcome 20 patrons per enclosed space on their premises. From Monday 22 June, that will increase to 50 patrons, with a hope that by mid-July we can move to 100 patrons per single enclosed space.
